Nurse salary in Kenya: county advert examples
Compare nurse salary examples from a 2026 Nakuru County advert, including basic pay versus consolidated gross pay and the contract attached to each role.
A nurse’s title, professional qualification, county and contract all affect the comparison. This page uses two roles from one official Nakuru County recruitment document. The advert closed on 15 April 2026; its figures are evidence of those advertised terms, not an announcement that the jobs are still open.

The first row excludes separately applicable allowances; the second is explicitly consolidated gross pay. Comparing the two numbers as if both were basic salaries would be misleading. Neither row is net take-home pay.
Choose a role with the same qualifications and scope
A nursing officer and an enrolled nurse are different positions. Read the qualifications, registration and practising-licence requirements in the specific advert before comparing the salary. A hospital’s department, level of responsibility and shift requirements also matter.
The document places Nursing Officer I on a basic scale and lists allowances separately. For Enrolled Nurse III it uses a consolidated gross figure. Keep those labels attached to the numbers whenever you record or share the comparison.
Ask what the contract includes
Confirm the duty station, contract period, probation if applicable, shift pattern, leave arrangements and who handles licence-related requirements. If an allowance is mentioned, ask whether it is included in the quoted gross pay or paid in addition. Do not count the same allowance twice.
Ask for an itemised written offer and an explanation of the applicable deductions. A county advert from an earlier recruitment cycle does not establish the terms of a private hospital, another county or a later appointment.

The linked PDF shows Nursing Officer I on page 19 and Enrolled Nurse III on page 22. Read the advert number as well as the title, because a long recruitment document can contain similar roles with different terms.
