Upper Hill

Upper Hill grew from a residential area into a corporate district dominated by banking, insurance, professional services and government-linked institutions. Its skyline includes Britam Tower, UAP Old Mutual Tower, Prism Tower and KCB Plaza. On the western side, Kenyatta National Hospital, Nairobi Hospital and medical training institutions create a second labour market with clinical, laboratory, administrative and facilities roles.

Search results often blur Upper Hill with the CBD and Kilimani. Equity Centre, NCBA headquarters, KCB Plaza and NSSF Building belong here, while Delta Corner is in Westlands. Delta Center, associated with the World Bank, is a different building in Upper Hill. Confirm the building name because one word can change the commute completely.

The district is close to the centre but does not behave like one compact office park. Hospital Road, Mara Road, Longonot Road and the Community side lead to different entrances and stages. Published routes 7B and 7C connect the CBD with Upper Hill and Kenyatta National Hospital, while Ngong Road and Mbagathi Way services approach the western medical cluster. Nairobi Expressway’s Haile Selassie exit is described by the operator as serving access toward Upper Hill, but that does not replace the last part of a public-transport journey. Ask for the building, road and reporting entrance before setting out.

Separate the medical and corporate searches. A clinical vacancy should clearly state the professional registration, practice licence, department and experience required. A hospital support vacancy may instead focus on records, procurement, catering, cleaning, security or facilities. Do not remove clinical requirements from a CV simply because the role is in the same institution as non-clinical work. For banks and insurers, mirror the advert’s language around risk, audit, customer operations, technology or actuarial work and give evidence that can be checked.

Use the building and road to verify the employer. Upper Hill contains towers with similar corporate names, and organisations have moved between Upper Hill and Westlands over time. The official contact page should agree with the interview message. If a recruiter names Delta Corner, that points to Westlands; Delta Center is the Upper Hill name associated with the World Bank. This check takes minutes and can prevent a failed trip or a scam that borrows a well-known building name.

For early-career applicants, watch the institution’s own programme cycle rather than assuming that every hospital or bank recruits graduates together. Medical training intakes, internships, graduate schemes and permanent vacancies have different rules. Keep separate alerts for healthcare, finance, administration and technology, and judge each notice on its own deadline.
