Minimum wage in Kenya
The 2026 General and Agricultural Industry Orders took effect on 1 May 2026 and replace the previous schedules. Choose the relevant occupation and industry before comparing an offer. Each amount below is a statutory figure, not average earnings.
Read the zones and pay basis
The General Order has three zones: Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Eldoret cities; All former municipalities and the town councils of Mavoko, Ruiru and Limuru; All other areas. Its corrected heading states that monthly wages exclude housing allowance, while daily and hourly rates include it. The agricultural schedule publishes consolidated monthly and daily wages.
Use the rate for the relevant pay arrangement. Monthly, daily and hourly entries are published separately; they are not interchangeable by multiplying by an assumed number of hours or days. A more specific industry order or contractual term may require separate consideration.

Original documents and corrections
We transcribed the schedules from the Kenya Gazette. The schedules first published on 29 May 2026 contained misprints: a cities hourly rate higher than the daily rate, and several farm monthly wages printed KES 10,000 too high. Legal Notices 108 and 109 of 26 June 2026 replaced both schedules with effect from 1 May 2026, and the tables above follow the corrected versions. Where an entry is disputed, consult the Ministry of Labour or a labour officer with the exact Gazette row.
