Each figure is what the employer or its recruitment agency advertised, usually gross monthly pay rather than take-home pay, and each row links to the original advert below.

What the adverts show

Across the 10 adverts, stated pay runs from KSh 20,000 to KSh 100,000 a month. The middle advert sits at about KSh 43,800.

All 10 adverts were posted by recruitment agencies. Agency adverts often hold back the employer's name, so the agency is shown instead and you apply through it.

One advert adds commission on top of the stated figure, so the table shows only the guaranteed part for those roles.

What moves the number

Most of these adverts ask for a valid practising licence: from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board for pharmaceutical technologists, the Clinical Officers Council for clinical officers and the nursing regulator for nurses. Ask whether the employer pays renewal fees.

Private clinics, schools and manufacturers pay differently. Manufacturing and operations roles in the pharmaceutical industry sit at the top of this list; school nurse and intern roles sit at the bottom. For public sector nurse pay, see the separate nurse salary guide.

Before you accept an offer

Advertised pay is usually gross monthly pay. Your take-home pay is lower after PAYE, NSSF, SHIF and the housing levy; use the net salary calculator linked below to estimate it before you compare offers.

Ask for a written offer that states the basic salary, any allowances, how commission or bonuses are calculated, the contract length and the probation period. A figure in an advert is a starting point, not a promise.
