STORES MANAGER-FOOD PROCESSING COMPANY

Warehouse & Stores Operations

• Oversee the daily receiving, storage, handling, issuing and dispatch of raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods and other inventory.
• Ensure proper warehouse organization, space utilization, housekeeping, stock identification, labelling and application of FIFO/FEFO principles.
• Develop and enforce effective stores procedures to improve efficiency, minimize losses and ensure smooth movement of materials.

Inventory Management & Control

• Monitor stock levels, establish appropriate minimum/reorder levels and initiate timely replenishment to prevent production interruptions and excess stockholding.
• Conduct regular stock counts and reconciliations, investigate variances and ensure accurate inventory records in the ERP/system.
• Identify and manage slow-moving, obsolete, damaged and near-expiry stock while implementing measures to minimize expiry, wastage and inventory losses.

Raw Material & Inbound Management

• Plan and coordinate the timely receipt of raw materials and packaging materials in line with production requirements and supplier lead times.
• Verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery documentation, ensuring accurate quantities and proper recording of all receipts.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Quality Assurance and Production to ensure materials are inspected, approved, stored and made available for production without unnecessary delays.

Production & Material Availability

• Work closely with Production and Planning teams to understand production schedules and ensure all required materials are available when needed.
• Coordinate authorized issuance of materials to production and maintain accurate records of all stock movements and consumption.
• Monitor material consumption and variances, escalating potential shortages or abnormal usage early enough to prevent disruption to production.

Team Leadership & Performance

• Lead, supervise and allocate duties to the stores and warehouse team to maximize productivity, efficiency and accountability.
• Train and coach staff on warehouse procedures, stock control, material handling, food safety, housekeeping and workplace safety requirements.
• Set performance expectations, monitor team output and promote discipline, teamwork and continuous improvement within the warehouse.

Health, Safety & Food Compliance

• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including safe lifting, stacking, material handling, use of PPE and maintenance of clear access routes.
• Maintain high standards of warehouse hygiene, sanitation and food safety in line with company policies and applicable food-processing requirements.
• Report and investigate incidents, enforce corrective actions and ensure warehouse operations remain compliant with internal policies, regulatory requirements and audit standards.

Reporting & Documentation

• Ensure accurate and timely recording of goods received, goods issued, stock transfers, returns, adjustments and other inventory transactions.
• Prepare regular reports on stock availability, inventory movements, variances, ageing, expiries and warehouse performance for management review.
• Maintain complete and accurate stores documentation to ensure proper traceability, accountability and readiness for internal and external audits.

Cost Control & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor inventory carrying costs and identify opportunities to reduce excess stock, storage costs, wastage and other warehouse-related expenses.
• Improve warehouse layouts, processes and material flows to reduce unnecessary handling, delays and operational inefficiencies.
• Identify operational risks and implement practical process improvements that enhance stock accuracy, warehouse productivity and overall supply chain performance.
