M-Pesa Africa: Senior Solutions Architect (Digital Platforms)

• Lead the architecture of the M-PESA Super App, including its mini-app platform and marketplace across six markets.
• Manage the design, versioning, and governance of M-PESA's SDKs to ensure consistency and developer experience.
• Set and enforce technical standards for mini-app onboarding, integration, security, and lifecycle management.
• Drive the adoption of modern digital platform architectures aligned with M-PESA's infrastructure strategy.
• Establish architecture governance frameworks and design review standards for digital platforms.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Market teams to meet regulatory and security requirements.
• Oversee the architecture of digital payment channels such as QR payments, hosted payment pages, and NFC, ensuring security and interoperability.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field.
• At least 8 years in solutions or platform architecture, mobile or digital engineering, with 3 years in a senior or lead role.
• Proven experience designing enterprise-scale digital or Super App platforms in financial services, fintech, or telecommunications.
• Experience owning super app or mini-app platform architecture including SDK design and third-party governance.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure and mobile/web application architecture.
• Proficiency in integration patterns including event streaming, API gateway design, and backend-for-frontend architecture.
• Strong knowledge of app platform security and governance frameworks such as OWASP MASVS or app store policies.
• Preferred: experience in mobile money, payment systems, or digital financial services in emerging markets.
• Preferred: familiarity with mini-app engine technologies and AI/ML-driven personalisation.
• Preferred: experience working across multi-country regulatory environments in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Preferred: professional certifications such as TOGAF or AWS/Azure Solutions Architect.
