What you will do

  • Develop and implement export sales strategies to achieve company revenue goals.
  • Assess regional markets for demand, regulations, competition, and entry barriers.
  • Identify and onboard distributors, agents, and retail partners in export territories.
  • Set and monitor sales targets and key performance indicators for distribution partners.
  • Manage relationships with distributors and conduct regular business reviews.
  • Collaborate on commercial plans, marketing campaigns, and trade activations with partners.
  • Oversee export pricing, trade margins, credit terms, and currency risks with Finance.
  • Provide volume and revenue forecasts aligned with production and supply chain.
  • Manage trade budgets, distributor rebates, and promotional funds to maximise returns.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain and Logistics to ensure smooth cross-border shipping and customs clearance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, labelling laws, and trade documentation for exported products.
  • Monitor trade agreements, tariffs, and geopolitical factors affecting export growth and risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Export Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Preferred: Master's degree or MBA in Export Trade or Commercial Strategy.
  • Preferred: Professional certification in Export Management or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive sales experience in FMCG or manufacturing.
  • 3 to 5 years of leadership experience managing export markets and distributor networks.
  • Proven success in developing markets within regional export corridors such as East Africa or COMESA.
  • Advanced skills in contract negotiation and managing multi-year distribution agreements.
  • Strong financial knowledge including foreign exchange, Incoterms, trade finance, and margin optimisation.
  • Practical knowledge of export/import documentation, shipping routes, customs compliance, and export law.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects.
  • High integrity and professionalism.
