299 mentor jobs in 10 counties, and KCSE C- is enough to apply

The State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs is hiring 280 mentors and 19 mentor supervisors on 15 month contracts in 10 counties. The deadline is 17 November 2026.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection advertised 299 jobs in the MyGov newspaper on 27 October 2026: 280 mentors and 19 mentor supervisors. The posts belong to the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs and support programmes for young people, vulnerable communities and households working their way out of poverty.

The jobs are in 16 sub-counties of 10 counties: Baringo, Turkana, Wajir, Tana River, Kisumu, Migori, Makueni, Murang'a, Taita Taveta and Marsabit. Baringo, Turkana North, Wajir East and Tana North have 28 mentor posts each, and the other sub-counties have 14 each.

For a mentor post you need at least C- (minus) in KCSE. A diploma in social work, education, psychology or a related field helps but is not required. Supervisors need a degree in a related field and at least one year of experience in mentorship, youth programmes or community work.

Both roles are fixed-term contracts of 15 months with no renewal. Applications are made online through the State Department for Social Protection, and the deadline is 17 November 2026. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and canvassing leads to disqualification.

This is one of the few public jobs open to people without a degree. If you live in one of these sub-counties, apply early and keep a copy of what you sent.
