TalkAfrica interviews work.ke founder Oleg Cherkas
Journalist Mary Mwendwa of TalkAfrica spoke to Oleg Cherkas about why he started work.ke, how the site keeps fake adverts away and which jobs Kenyan graduates look for most.
In the seven days to 28 October, work.ke found 324 new openings across Kenya. Nairobi City County added 26 roles, only 1 in 5 adverts showed the pay, and 179 adverts close within a week.
work.ke checks more than 300 job sources in Kenya every day: employer career pages, recruitment agencies, county governments and public job boards. In the seven days to Wednesday 28 October 2026 we found 324 new openings, and 1,844 roles were open on the site that morning.
Nairobi City County added the most new roles this week, 26 in total. M-KOPA followed with 12, then Aga Khan University and UN-Habitat with 8 each.
Operations and sales and marketing had the most new openings, followed by healthcare, finance and accounting, and IT. About 200 of the new roles are in Nairobi, and Kiambu came next with 26.
Pay is still hidden in most adverts. Only 69 of the 324 new adverts say what the job pays, about 1 in 5, so many people apply without knowing whether the salary will cover rent and transport.
Deadlines are close: 179 adverts on work.ke close in the next seven days. If you have been waiting to apply, check the closing dates now.
Looking for your first job? This week brought 31 new entry-level roles and internships. Our entry-level and internship lists are updated twice a day.
