Job Overview

Our client is a growing packaging manufacturer specialising in corrugated and customised packaging solutions. They are seeking an experienced and hands-on Operations Manager to oversee overall production operations, ensuring efficient use of people, machinery, raw materials, and other resources.

The role will be responsible for production planning, equipment utilisation and maintenance coordination, raw material tracking, workforce supervision, quality, safety, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate should have strong manufacturing experience and the ability to identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily production activities to ensure orders are completed within agreed timelines.
  • Develop production plans and monitor output against production targets, customer requirements, and available resources.
  • Oversee production processes including corrugation, printing, die-cutting, folding, gluing, stitching, and finishing, where applicable.
  • Monitor equipment utilisation and coordinate preventive maintenance to minimise breakdowns and unplanned downtime.
  • Plan and communicate scheduled machine downtime and ensure maintenance activities are completed with minimal disruption to production.
  • Monitor the condition and availability of production equipment, PPE, tools, and other operational resources.
  • Track raw material usage, availability, and movement to ensure uninterrupted production and minimise wastage.
  • Identify production bottlenecks, inefficiencies, delays, and recurring operational challenges and implement corrective measures.
  • Guide, supervise, and support production teams to achieve productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency targets.
  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, discipline, and adherence to production procedures and safety requirements.
  • Ensure production activities comply with required quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate production records covering output, downtime, wastage, rejects, rework, raw materials, and equipment performance.
  • Prepare regular production and operational reports for management.
  • Work closely with Stores, Procurement, Maintenance, Quality Control, Sales, and other departments to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Monitor production costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational wastage.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping, safe working practices, and compliance with company procedures across the production floor.
  • Continuously review production processes and recommend improvements to enhance productivity, efficiency, and capacity.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Production, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing or production operations , with previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience in corrugated packaging, carton manufacturing, paper converting, printing, or a related manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in production planning, equipment management, raw material control, and workforce supervision.
  • Good understanding of preventive maintenance, downtime management, production planning, and quality control.
  • Strong ability to analyse production data and identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
