What you will do
- Review daily production plans and assess material needs with the Production In-Charge
- Operate assigned production lines according to the production schedule
- Attend production shift meetings and coordinate with supervisors on labour availability
- Monitor production metrics such as efficiency, consumption, waste, and implement corrective actions
- Inspect powder plant machinery and check maintenance needs before shifts
- Supervise packers and provide necessary assistance
- Implement food safety standards and monitor critical control points in the production section
- Report incidents, accidents, and non-conformities during shifts
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and health, safety, and environmental standards
- Attend production team briefings and complete assigned training
- Support continuous improvement activities and provide feedback to the Production Manager
- Perform other duties assigned by the Production Supervisor
Requirements
- Diploma in mechanical engineering or related engineering field from a recognised institution
- At least 2 years' experience in dry milk powder production
- Knowledge of machine operations and dry milk powder production processes
- Understanding of GMP requirements for food and dairy products, especially UHT facilities
- Familiarity with Dairy Develop Authority regulations, Dairy Industry Act, Kenya Bureau of Standards, and other relevant dairy production regulations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well in a team and pay attention to detail
