What you will do

  • Lead recruitment processes for site roles following approved local employment frameworks and legal requirements.
  • Manage employee relations, conduct disciplinary hearings, and handle grievances in line with employment laws and company policies.
  • Review and approve payroll input data, including attendance and casual workforce payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Verify contractor workforce compliance, including lawful engagement, induction, and insurance coverage before site access.
  • Maintain complete and confidential personnel records and ensure compliance with relevant labour laws and company policies.
  • Advise site leadership on HR policies, coordinate performance and training reviews, and participate in workforce planning.
  • Supervise and develop the HR Assistant, ensuring high standards of accuracy, independence, and continuous HR service coverage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
  • Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP-K).
  • Membership of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) with a valid HRMPEB practising certificate.
  • At least 4 years of generalist HR experience, including 2 years in a mining, construction, agriculture, manufacturing, or similar site with a large casual workforce.
  • Minimum of 1 year supervising or mentoring HR or administrative staff.
  • Experience investigating misconduct and conducting disciplinary hearings compliant with Employment Act procedures.
  • Practical experience managing payroll inputs, including attendance-based casual payments.
  • Experience in community-based recruitment and engagement with community stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of the Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Work Injury Benefits Act (WIBA), Data Protection Act, and local employment provisions under the Mining Act 2016.
  • Proficiency in HR information systems or payroll software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • High integrity and discretion, with a valid Certificate of Good Conduct required.
  • Fluent communication skills in English and Kiswahili, able to enforce processes with site leadership and community members.
  • Willingness to reside at the West Pokot Mine Site according to the approved roster.
