Our client is a well-established training institution in Kenya, with multiple branches and an international placement programme connecting Kenyan professionals with employers abroad.

Role overview

We are looking for a proactive, organized, and detail-oriented HR Assistant to support the HR department in the effective management of employee-related processes and administrative activities.

The successful candidate will provide support across recruitment, employee records, leave administration, staff welfare, performance management, employee relations, and general HR administration. The role requires a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment processes , including job posting, candidate screening, shortlisting, interview coordination, and onboarding.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, personnel files, and HR databases .
  • Prepare HR letters, contracts, correspondence, reports, and other personnel documents.
  • Support leave management , including maintaining leave records and assisting with leave requests and approvals.
  • Assist with employee welfare and staff engagement activities .
  • Support the implementation of performance management and staff appraisal processes .
  • Assist with disciplinary and employee relations matters in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure HR documentation and processes comply with applicable employment laws, regulations, and company policies .
  • Assist in coordinating employee onboarding and orientation.
  • Support the HR department in maintaining proper HR documentation and filing systems.
  • Provide general administrative and operational support to the HR department.
  • Handle employee information with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism .
  • Prepare HR reports and provide relevant information to management when required.
  • Perform other HR-related duties as assigned by the HR Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in HR or a related administrative role.
  • Previous experience in a Human Resources environment will be an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of HR practices, employment procedures, and employee administration .
  • Working knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace .
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and people-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
