What you will do

  • Assess patients by taking medical and dental histories, conducting oral examinations, and documenting findings.
  • Develop care plans, obtain informed consent, and provide preventive and basic clinical care within authorised scope.
  • Identify cases needing dental officer or specialist referral and arrange timely referrals.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, diet, and risk factors, providing individual and group counselling.
  • Support oral health education and screening in schools and communities, and work with health teams to improve referrals.
  • Follow infection prevention protocols including hand hygiene, instrument sterilisation, and safe waste handling.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, prepare service reports, and coordinate care with clinical teams.

Requirements

  • Diploma or higher qualification in Community Oral Health from a recognised institution.
  • Registration with Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council and valid practising licence.
  • Completion of internship and registration requirements.
  • 2 to 3 years post-registration experience in a dental clinic, hospital, or community oral health programme.
  • Practical competence in oral health assessment, preventive care, infection prevention, and clinical documentation.
  • Ability to assess oral health needs, recognise when to refer, and deliver authorised services safely.
  • Skills in patient education, obtaining informed consent, and explaining care and aftercare clearly.

Benefits

The salary ranges from KES 47,500 to 55,000.
