What you will do

  • Lead and guide a team of 5 to 10 technical trainers to ensure high quality and timely task delivery.
  • Review engineering tasks thoroughly, including problem statements, reaction kinetics, thermodynamic data, process flowsheets, computational environments, reference solutions, and automated tests.
  • Validate tasks covering reaction engineering, thermodynamics, phase equilibria, transport phenomena, separation processes, process simulation, process control, optimization, combustion, and electrochemical engineering.
  • Ensure tasks represent authentic chemical engineering workflows requiring detailed multi-step technical reasoning.
  • Check mass and energy balances, thermodynamic consistency, property data, unit handling, numerical accuracy, and solver convergence.
  • Validate computational models and simulation results for reproducibility, including stiff ODE/DAE solvers, tolerances, and initial conditions.
  • Review automated graders to confirm they assess meaningful engineering outputs such as conversion, yield, purity, energy consumption, and process constraints.
  • Identify and address technical inaccuracies, unrealistic assumptions, incorrect tolerances, and potential shortcuts in engineering calculations.
  • Provide clear technical feedback, track revisions, and ensure all issues are resolved before task approval.
  • Onboard trainers, assign tasks, monitor quality and throughput, resolve technical issues, and maintain documentation and best practices.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Chemical Engineering is mandatory.
  • Postdoctoral experience or equivalent advanced technical expertise in Chemical Engineering.
  • Programming experience in languages such as Python, Julia, C/C++, or MATLAB/Octave.
  • Familiarity with Linux and command-line interfaces.
  • Practical expertise in at least one key area like process modeling, reaction kinetics, thermodynamic modeling, process simulation, or optimization.
  • Deep knowledge of chemical engineering principles, numerical methods, computational modeling, and technical validation.
  • Experience reviewing complex technical work including chemical process simulations and computational models.
  • Ability to assess mass and energy balances, thermodynamic assumptions, numerical accuracy, solver convergence, and computational reliability.
  • Strong analytical skills to detect technical errors, edge cases, and flawed engineering assumptions.
  • Experience in mentoring, reviewing, or leading small technical teams.
  • Excellent written communication skills for detailed technical feedback and documentation.
