Our client a dynamic real estate, company is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and commercially minded Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations and support accurate financial reporting and sound financial management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, supporting statutory compliance, monitoring cash flow, and providing timely financial information to management.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records.
  • Record and process invoices, receipts, payments, expenses, and other financial transactions.
  • Prepare and maintain general ledger accounts.
  • Perform regular bank, supplier, customer, and other account reconciliations.
  • Maintain proper documentation and filing of financial records.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process supplier invoices and ensure payments are properly authorized and recorded.
  • Maintain accurate supplier statements and reconcile outstanding balances.
  • Prepare customer invoices and monitor receivables.
  • Follow up on outstanding customer balances and support credit-control activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of payables and receivables.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Produce cash-flow reports and assist with cash-flow forecasting.
  • Provide financial analysis and reports to management as required.
  • Investigate significant variances and provide explanations.
  • Support preparation of budgets and periodic budget-versus-actual analysis.

Tax & Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure accounting records support accurate and timely statutory filings.
  • Assist with preparation and submission of applicable tax returns.
  • Maintain accurate records for VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, and other applicable statutory obligations.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisers, and relevant authorities when required.
  • Keep abreast of changes in applicable accounting and tax requirements.

Payroll Support

  • Support accurate and timely monthly payroll processing.
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts and statutory deductions.
  • Maintain appropriate payroll documentation and records.

General Finance Support

  • Assist management with financial planning and decision-making.
  • Maintain organized and secure financial records.
  • Support procurement and operational teams on financial matters.
  • Undertake other finance-related responsibilities assigned by management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field .
  • CPA (K) qualification or progress toward CPA (K) is highly desirable.
  • At least 2–4 years’ relevant accounting experience , preferably in a commercial business environment.
  • Experience with accounting software/ERP systems.
  • Good knowledge of Kenyan tax and statutory requirements.
  • Strong Excel skills, including reconciliations, reporting, and analysis.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Integrity and confidentiality.
  • Good organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies
