What you will do

  • Design and manage the facility's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programme, including risk assessments and emergency plans.
  • Deliver HSE training and ensure safety equipment and signage are maintained.
  • Support production supervisors in enforcing safety during shifts.
  • Coordinate third-party HSE audits and testing.
  • Develop and manage the Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system for feedstock, production, quality, and carbon removal data.
  • Oversee data collection and support lab and quality technicians to meet verification standards.
  • Serve as the main contact for external verifiers, auditors, and regulators, preparing reports and audit documentation.
  • Train staff on MRV and HSE procedures and coordinate data accuracy across departments.
  • Develop and provide training materials for field staff on biochar application and data collection.

Requirements

  • Degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Data Science, Agronomy, or related field.
  • At least 3 years' experience in HSE, compliance, audit, or environmental data management.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE, OSHA Kenya 2007, ISO, or similar regulatory frameworks is a strong advantage.
  • Comfortable engaging with auditors and designing audit programmes.
  • Familiarity with carbon standards or carbon credit methodologies is a plus but not required.
  • Strong skills in data management, reporting, and analysis.
  • Experience with data platforms, spreadsheets, or environmental monitoring software.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity and safety.
  • Willingness to learn across MRV and HSE areas.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Experience working in East Africa is advantageous.
  • Must be a Kenyan citizen or permanent resident.
