What you will do

  • Review site plans, reports, and work orders to prepare and execute jobs correctly.
  • Supervise Field Service Technicians, Mechanics, Pump Technicians, Plumbers, Welders/Fabricators, and Workshop Admin staff.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Training to identify skills gaps and implement training and process improvements.
  • Plan and monitor workshop activities to complete jobs on time and to specifications.
  • Coordinate installation, commissioning, servicing, repair, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure availability and proper allocation of tools, equipment, materials, and spare parts.
  • Monitor job progress and resolve technical or operational issues affecting schedules.
  • Ensure work meets technical specifications, customer needs, and quality standards.
  • Optimize workshop capacity and resource use including manpower and equipment.
  • Coordinate multiple field service and project teams as needed.
  • Ensure all technical jobs comply with approved specifications and checklists.
  • Identify recurring technical problems and implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Lead or support root-cause analysis for equipment failures, rework, warranty claims, and complaints.
  • Drive continuous improvement in workshop processes, productivity, quality, and service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, service reports, and maintenance records.
  • Work closely with various departments including Technical Director, Sales, Procurement, Finance, Warehouse, Logistics, and Administration.
  • Provide technical input to Sales when assessing customer needs and developing solutions.
  • Ensure all activities follow health, safety, and environmental policies and safe working practices.
  • Enforce proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) among employees.
  • Maintain workshop equipment and work areas in safe operating condition.
  • Coordinate safety training at least quarterly with the HSE team.
  • Promote safety culture and address unsafe practices immediately.
  • Report and support corrective actions following incidents and accidents.
  • Ensure team members understand roles, responsibilities, targets, and performance expectations.
  • Monitor individual performance and conduct or support quarterly appraisals.
  • Identify performance gaps and implement coaching and development plans.
  • Recognize high-performing employees and promote accountability.
  • Approve expense orders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Production Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant engineering experience with supervisory or managerial responsibility.
  • Experience in industrial equipment, water machinery, or solar water pumping is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate multiple field service, workshop, or project teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of positive displacement, centrifugal, industrial, and submersible pumps.
  • Knowledge of electric motors and geared motors.
  • Familiarity with control panels and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Experience with solar water pumping systems.
  • Skills in pump installation, commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of mechanical assemblies and couplings.
  • Experience in welding and fabrication.
  • Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and technical troubleshooting.
  • Skills in equipment fault diagnosis and failure analysis.
  • Experience in workshop planning and resource management.
  • Competence in quality control and technical inspection.
  • Experience with Odoo ERP is an advantage (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
