What you will do
- Prepare, review, reconcile, and submit monthly VAT, Excise Duty, and Withholding Tax returns on time.
- Manage Duty Remission Scheme (DRS) applications, renewals, gazettement, approvals, and monitor usage limits.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of VAT, Excise Duty, and Withholding Tax accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Serve as the main liaison with KRA and other regulatory bodies for tax compliance and audits.
- Coordinate responses to tax assessments, notices, and information requests and lead tax audit preparations.
- Monitor tax law changes and provide tax guidance to management and teams, supporting tax planning and business advisory activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, taxation, or related field with at least a Second Class Upper division.
- Professional qualification such as CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent.
- At least five years of post-qualification experience in taxation, preferably in large FMCG, agriculture, manufacturing, or multinational companies.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax legislation including VAT, Excise Duty, Customs, Duty Remission Schemes, and Withholding Tax.
- Experience in managing tax audits and regulatory engagements.
- Proficiency in Oracle ERP and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
