Mechanical Fitter

• Install, maintain, and repair tobacco production machinery and equipment.
• Carry out routine mechanical inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and fix mechanical faults, replacing components as needed.
• Modify and improve equipment as instructed by the plant engineer.
• Lubricate machinery and maintain conveyor belts and machine speeds.
• Operate lathe and milling machines, and perform welding and fabrication tasks.
• Address motor, conveyor, and hydraulic system issues.
• Erect scaffolding and perform work at heights safely.
• Inspect and maintain shakers, fans, gearboxes, classifiers, and dryers.
• Sharpen baskets and install gutters.
• Follow safety procedures including lockout/tagout and use of personal protective equipment.
• Conduct safety inspections and suggest hazard mitigation measures.
• Keep accurate records of production activities and issues.
• Prepare reports on production line performance with improvement recommendations.

• Craft Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with Plant or Production option from KNEC.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar mechanical fitting role.
• Proficient in mechanical fitting and troubleshooting.
• Skilled in operating lathe and milling machines.
• Ability to perform welding and fabrication.
• Knowledgeable in hydraulic and conveyor systems.
• Committed to workplace safety and following safety protocols.
• Detail-oriented and precise in work.
• Capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates honesty and responsibility.
