What you will do
- Develop and implement the HR strategy, annual plan, and budget.
- Translate business needs into workforce plans, staffing structures, and succession priorities.
- Advise leadership on organisational design, restructuring, and people risks.
- Lead recruitment and onboarding for various positions including technical and leadership roles.
- Manage employee relations including grievances, disciplinary actions, and union engagement.
- Oversee performance management, leadership development, and organisational culture improvements.
- Supervise compensation, payroll, benefits, and monitor people costs in collaboration with Finance and Operations.
- Maintain HR policies, employment contracts, and compliance with employment laws.
- Partner with HSSE and Operations on workforce safety, competence, and site-specific HR support.
- Manage HRIS data quality, confidentiality, reporting, and lead the HR team.
- Present regular reports on HR metrics with recommendations for action.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field.
- Relevant professional HR qualification and membership or registration valid in the country of employment.
- At least 10 years of progressive HR experience including 5 years in senior HR leadership roles.
- Experience supporting oil and gas operations or similar high-risk, asset-intensive industrial environments with technical and operational workforces.
- Preferred: Master's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related discipline.
- Required competencies include strategic thinking, leadership, stakeholder collaboration, ethical judgement, safety awareness, communication, analytical thinking, change leadership, and accountability.
- Must have skills in strategic HR leadership, HR compliance and governance, reward and payroll oversight, and executive communication and leadership.
- Preferred experience in petroleum distribution, terminals, LPG, retail fuel operations, exploration or production.
- Preferred experience managing remote-site mobilisation, expatriate employment, regional operations or multicultural workforces.
- Preferred experience leading collective bargaining and managing workforce transitions.
Benefits
The salary range is KES 450,000 to 500,000 per month.
