What you will do

  • Prepare and issue requests for quotations, proposals, and tenders for goods and services.
  • Review supplier quotations and conduct bid analyses for procurement committee submission.
  • Verify supplier registration and compliance with standards.
  • Create purchase orders and contracts, ensuring clear terms and specifications.
  • Track orders from placement to delivery and acceptance.
  • Monitor supplier performance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Arrange transportation and customs clearance for goods into Somalia.
  • Assist with documentation for border crossings and ensure insurance for goods in transit.
  • Support inventory and asset management using stock management systems and fixed asset registers.
  • Maintain warehouse organisation and stock control procedures at Nairobi headquarters.
  • Assist with full stock counts at headquarters and field locations.
  • Oversee vehicle fleet usage, maintenance, fuel consumption, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain vehicle logbooks and fuel consumption reports.
  • Ensure rental vehicle contracts are properly managed.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in procurement, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Possess a professional certification in procurement or supply chain management such as CIPS, CHPP, or CPSM.
  • Have at least three years of practical experience in procurement and logistics, preferably within an international NGO.
  • Experience working in emergency or fragile environments is required.
  • Understand donor compliance requirements and international procurement standards.
  • Be proficient in procurement software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Show ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Have excellent organisational skills and documentation practices.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills for diverse team environments.
  • Be flexible and willing to travel frequently to field locations in Somalia.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
  • Experience working with Trócaire for over six months is preferred.
  • Availability to work outside normal hours and knowledge of Somalia, especially the Gedo region, are desirable.
