About this role

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales & Business Development

  • Promote and sell pharmaceutical and medical products to pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, healthcare professionals, and other targeted customers while building strong customer relationships.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, conduct regular customer visits, follow up on leads, and expand the company’s customer base and market presence.
  • Develop and implement territory sales plans to maximize revenue opportunities and consistently achieve assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.

Product Promotion & Knowledge

  • Present and promote the company’s pharmaceutical and medical products to healthcare professionals and customers by clearly communicating their features, benefits, applications, and approved usage.
  • Maintain strong technical knowledge of the company’s product portfolio and stay informed about new products, product updates, and developments within the healthcare market.
  • Respond professionally to customer product inquiries, provide appropriate product information, and escalate technical or specialized queries to the relevant team where necessary.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with doctors, pharmacists, nurses, procurement teams, hospital administrators, pharmacy owners, and other healthcare stakeholders.
  • Understand customer needs, recommend suitable products from the company’s portfolio, and provide consistent follow-up to encourage repeat purchases and customer retention.
  • Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally while ensuring that customer concerns are communicated and resolved promptly.

Market Development

  • Research and identify potential customers, new market opportunities, and areas with potential for increased sales and product penetration.
  • Monitor competitor products, pricing, promotional activities, customer preferences, and other market developments within the assigned territory.
  • Gather and communicate relevant market intelligence and customer feedback to management to support sales and business development strategies.

Territory & Account Management

  • Plan and organize daily customer visits and sales activities effectively to ensure adequate coverage of the assigned territory.
  • Develop existing accounts by identifying additional product needs, increasing product penetration, and maximizing sales opportunities.
  • Maintain an updated customer database and track customer interactions, orders, follow-ups, and business opportunities within the assigned territory.

Sales Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare and submit accurate daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports detailing sales performance, customer visits, orders, and business development activities.
  • Maintain proper records of customer accounts, sales leads, orders, follow-ups, and other relevant sales documentation.
  • Work closely with the sales and operations teams to follow up on customer orders, support timely deliveries, and address issues affecting customer satisfaction.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree or Diploma in Health Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medical Sciences, Nursing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in pharmaceutical or medical product sales.
  • Demonstrable experience working in a target-driven sales environment.
  • Good technical knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical products.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare products and their applications.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong sales acumen and customer relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic reporting tools is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical/healthcare market in Nairobi will be an added advantage.
