What you will do
- Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements such as insurance policies, service level agreements, vendor contracts, and terms and conditions.
- Maintain and organise commercial contracts, including implementing a contract tracking system.
- Collaborate with internal teams to manage contract lifecycle tasks and gather necessary inputs.
- Identify and escalate legal risks related to third-party contracting.
- Improve the efficiency of contracting processes.
- Manage legal matters related to insurance underwriting and provide legal support to various teams.
- Conduct legal research, provide advice, and ensure compliance with regulatory bodies including insurance and data protection authorities.
- Perform Company Secretary duties for all Turaco entities.
- Develop and review templates for commonly used legal documents.
- Help balance commercial opportunities with legal risks for the business.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) and a Legal Diploma (Dip. in Law, KSL).
- Be an advocate of the High Court.
- Have 2 to 4 years of post-admission experience in a busy law firm or corporate legal department.
- Possess knowledge of insurance products, services, principles, and practices (preferred).
- Be confident in using AI tools to enhance capability and efficiency.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
- Be a self-starter, highly organised, with a high degree of integrity.
- Maintain trustworthiness and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Be willing to work effectively across different geographies and cultures.
