DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Research and Data Collection

  • Conduct face-to-face surveys, interviews, and questionnaires with selected respondents in the assigned areas.
  • Engage community members professionally and explain the purpose of the research clearly.
  • Collect accurate information in accordance with the provided research guidelines and procedures.
  • Participate in focus group discussions and other field research activities as assigned.

Information Gathering and Demographic Data

  • Collect relevant demographic and community information from respondents using approved data collection tools.
  • Record responses accurately and completely without influencing or changing respondents’ answers.
  • Ensure all required questions and information are captured during each interaction.
  • Clarify unclear responses with respondents where appropriate and within the approved research guidelines.

Data Recording and Verification

  • Enter collected information accurately into the provided forms, applications, or data collection systems.
  • Review submitted information for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Identify and correct errors or inconsistencies before submitting data to the field supervisor.
  • Support basic database management and organization of collected information as required.

Compliance, Privacy and Professional Conduct

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all information obtained from respondents during the research process.
  • Follow applicable data protection, privacy, and research procedures at all times.
  • Obtain respondent consent where required and respect respondents’ right to decline participation.
  • Conduct all field activities professionally, respectfully, and without discrimination or bias.

Field Operations and Reporting

  • Follow assigned routes, schedules, sampling instructions, and daily fieldwork targets.
  • Attend all required training, briefings, and field meetings before and during the assignment.
  • Provide regular updates to the Field Supervisor on progress, challenges, and completed assignments.
  • Report any difficulties, unusual incidents, or challenges encountered in the field promptly.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • No previous experience in data collection is required.
  • Candidates must be willing to undergo and successfully complete field training.
  • Minimum KCSE qualification or equivalent is preferred.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and accurately record information.
  • Comfortable interacting with people from different backgrounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors and move around different locations within the assigned area.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work for the duration of the short-term contract.
