DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Housekeeping Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day housekeeping operations and ensure guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and other facilities meet established cleanliness standards.
  • Plan room assignments, work schedules, daily allocations, and staffing requirements based on occupancy and operational needs.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas and ensure identified issues are promptly addressed.
  • Maintain consistent standards of cleanliness, presentation, hygiene, and guest comfort throughout the hotel.

Team Leadership & Staff Management

  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate a large housekeeping team, including room attendants, public-area cleaners, supervisors, and laundry staff.
  • Prepare duty rosters, monitor attendance, allocate workloads, and ensure adequate staffing during peak periods.
  • Train, coach, and mentor team members on housekeeping procedures, service standards, safety, and efficient work practices.
  • Monitor staff performance and maintain accountability, discipline, teamwork, and professional conduct.

Laundry, Linen & Inventory

  • Oversee laundry operations and ensure efficient handling, cleaning, storage, and distribution of linen and uniforms.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels of linen, cleaning chemicals, amenities, equipment, and other housekeeping supplies.
  • Monitor inventory usage, conduct regular stock checks, and minimize losses, damage, and wastage.
  • Ensure housekeeping equipment is properly maintained, safely used, and replaced or repaired when necessary.

Quality, Hygiene & Safety

  • Establish and maintain high standards for room cleanliness, public-area presentation, hygiene, and sanitation.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and housekeeping equipment.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections and implement corrective actions where standards are not met.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies, health and safety requirements, and established housekeeping procedures.

Cost Control & Budget Management

  • Prepare and manage housekeeping budgets in line with approved departmental targets.
  • Monitor labour, linen, laundry, chemicals, amenities, and other departmental costs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce wastage without compromising service quality.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular reports on departmental performance, inventory, staffing, and costs.

Interdepartmental Coordination

  • Work closely with Front Office to ensure rooms are cleaned, inspected, and released according to occupancy and check-in requirements.
  • Coordinate with Engineering on maintenance defects, room repairs, equipment issues, and preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Collaborate with F&B and other departments to maintain cleanliness and service standards in shared and operational areas.
  • Participate in daily operational meetings and communicate housekeeping priorities, challenges, and requirements to management.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality, Housekeeping Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in hotel housekeeping, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management position.
  • Proven experience managing large housekeeping teams and sizeable hotel operations.
  • Strong experience in room assignments, inspections, scheduling, and housekeeping supervision
  • Good knowledge of laundry and linen management, cleaning chemicals, housekeeping equipment, and inventory control.
  • Experience in departmental budgeting, cost control, and staff management.
  • Experience in a sizeable hotel or full-service property is highly preferred.
