About this role

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cleaning Operations

  • Coordinate and supervise daily cleaning activities across assigned facilities to ensure all areas are cleaned according to established schedules and standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of offices, washrooms, floors, common areas, and other facilities to ensure required cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained.
  • Identify cleaning gaps or service issues and take immediate corrective action to maintain quality standards.

Staff Supervision & Coordination

  • Allocate daily duties and responsibilities to cleaners and ensure adequate staff coverage across assigned areas.
  • Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, grooming, conduct, productivity, and adherence to assigned responsibilities.
  • Train, coach, and guide cleaning staff on proper cleaning procedures, customer service, equipment use, chemical handling, and workplace safety.

Quality Control & Health and Safety

  • Ensure cleaning staff follow approved cleaning procedures, hygiene standards, and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Monitor the correct and safe use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain cleaning quality records and promptly report safety hazards, accidents, damaged equipment, or other incidents to management.

Supplies & Equipment Management

  • Monitor the availability and appropriate use of cleaning materials, consumables, equipment, and PPE.
  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning supplies and report shortages, wastage, or damaged equipment to management.
  • Ensure cleaning equipment is properly maintained, stored, and used efficiently to minimize damage and unnecessary costs.

Client & Site Management

  • Maintain professional communication with clients, site representatives, and facility management teams regarding cleaning services and operational requirements.
  • Receive, investigate, and resolve routine customer complaints or service concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide regular updates to management on site performance, staffing, customer feedback, challenges, and areas requiring improvement.

Reporting & Performance Management

  • Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly reports covering staff attendance, cleaning activities, site conditions, incidents, and service performance.
  • Monitor team performance against agreed service standards and take corrective measures where required.
  • Support management in evaluating staff performance, identifying training needs, and implementing measures to improve operational efficiency.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • KCSE certificate or a certificate in Cleaning, Housekeeping, Hospitality, Facilities Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field .
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a professional cleaning company , with at least 6 months’ experience in a supervisory role .
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising cleaning teams, coordinating cleaning schedules, conducting quality inspections, and managing day-to-day site operations.
  • Strong ability to inspect work, identify gaps, and ensure consistently high cleaning and hygiene standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to handle staff issues, customer concerns, and operational challenges professionally.
