Assistant Director, Social Development

(i) minimum service period of two (2) years in the grade of Principal Social Development Officer, CSG 8 or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider public service; (ii) a Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines: Sociology, Anthropology. Social Work, Community Development, Project Development/Management, Disability Studies, Counselling, Gender Studies, Gender and Development, Business Administration/ Management or any other relevant qualification from a university recognized in Kenya; and (iii) a Certificate Course in Senior Management lasting not less than four (4) weeks; and (iv) show outstanding professional competence and administrative ability.

(i) implementing community mobilization, community development, social welfare, social protection, community capacity support programme (CCSP), Vocational rehabilitation services, volunteerism and family promotion/protection programmes; (ii) developing action plans for social development programmes; (iii) developing strategies for social groups and communities to improve their participation in development; (iv) verifying the eligibility of identified older persons and persons with severe disability in programmes and projects; (v) developing and reviewing monitoring tools for implementing social development programmes; (vi) undertaking research on social development issues in the communities; and (vii) supporting institutions of older persons in the provision of effective care protection for vulnerable older persons.
