ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, CLIMATE CHANGE(MITIGATION) – GREENHOUSE GAS INVENTORIES

(i) served a minimum period of three (3) years in the grade of Principal Climate Change Officer, CSG 8 or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider public service; and (ii) a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies, Meteorology, Natural Resource

Sciences, Engineering, Climatology, Law, Engineering, Environmental Planning and

Management, Economics, Statistics, Climate Change or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya; and (iii) certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;

(i) developing, implementing and reviewing the National Climate Change Action Plan on adaptation and National Adaptation Plan; (ii) providing technical support in Planning and implementation of adaptation projects, programmes and activities across various sectors; (iii) guiding in preparation of reports on the status of implementation of adaptation actions in the National Climate Change Action Plan; (iv) supporting technology development and transferring, and researching for adaptation across different sectors through capacity building; (v) guiding in the development of adaptation projects proposals for domestic and international funding; (vi) providing technical assistance on adaptation based on needs identified by county governments; and (vii) facilitating mainstreaming of climate change adaptation into national development planning processes and implementing climate change adaptation programmes and projects

At Climate Change Negotiations and Resource Mobilization Division

Duties and responsibilities at this level will include: - (i) sensitization of Climate Change actors on Climate finance; (ii) facilitating capacity building of stakeholders to enhance access to Climate finance; (iii) promoting linkages between Climate Change private investors and climate actors to facilitate enhanced climate action; (iv) liaising with stakeholders in preparing for and participating in global, regional and national Climate Change negotiations; (v) facilitating capacity building of stakeholders on international Climate Change negotiation outcomes; (vi) developing, reviewing and implementing strategies for resource mobilization to address Climate action; and (vii) co-ordinating participation in regional and global negotiations to articulate Kenya’s interests in Climate Change.
