What you will do

  • Prepare regular progress reports on field activities and challenges for the International Project Manager and Coordinator.
  • Act as UN-Habitat's main contact in Aweil, liaising with authorities, communities, partners, and the programme team.
  • Maintain relationships with government, UNHCR, IOM, and other partners and participate in coordination meetings.
  • Coordinate field activities and support project missions, providing technical, operational, and logistical assistance.
  • Support implementation, monitoring, and reporting of activities related to urban development, spatial planning, housing, land and property rights, land tenure, and durable solutions.
  • Organize workshops, meetings, and coordination sessions with stakeholders and document agreed actions.
  • Support training and capacity-building for local authorities and communities on relevant topics such as spatial planning and participatory approaches.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) in Urban Planning, Urban Management, Public Administration, Local Governance, Development Studies, or related field; or a first-level degree plus two years relevant experience.
  • At least two years of progressively responsible experience in local governance, field coordination, programme implementation, or urban development.
  • Experience working with local authorities and communities in South Sudan, including knowledge of local governance and displacement contexts.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Experience with United Nations agencies, international organizations, or multi-partner programmes is desirable.
  • Experience supporting urban development in humanitarian or displacement settings is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Dinka language is desirable.
